Last week I attended an open house at Urban Design in Buffalo. A friend of mine who used to live in Amherst discovered the store. The open house had wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and live music. The owner, Lisa DeCarlo, locates the materials, designs the furniture, lighting and accessories and employs a master craftsman to build the pieces. Everything is made from reclaimed and repurposed materials.

Combined with lunch or dinner at Rick’s on Main, it makes for a nice day trip from Rochester.
