I have been working with a client, who with my help has been restyling her home, room by room since October 2014. A few months ago, we made it to the second floor and completed the master bedroom. I am sure you will agree that the transformation is amazing!
Here is how the process works. It starts with a consultation with myself, Leona Piro. I access the room(s), we decide what pieces will remain, what will be restyled, and what needs to be replaced. We discuss a budget, I recommend places to shop for each component, we discuss the most effective place to start, and the order in which to proceed. Together, we decide on a look and choose a color palette that works with the existing elements.
This process is both fun and cost effective for clients who have the time, energy, and patience. Throughout the process, the client checks in with me by texting photos, emailing or calling for everything from a thumbs up on selections to further direction or as this particular client called it “talking me down”.
Photos Above: The color scheme went from peach, pale green, and rose to gray, blue, and a hint of gold. The traditional style window treatments in the dated fabric were replaced with neutral ready-made drapes in a simple grommet style. The geometric pattern in the area rug helped to update the décor. The fabric covered headboard was probably the most difficult thing to find on a limited budget. Perhaps it was half perseverance and half good luck, but the client found this on clearance for around $200! New bedding and throw pillows were a must. White ceramic base table lamps with drum shades were also added to the updated look.
Photos Above: Removing the attached mirror that gave the dresser a very dated look and replacing it with a wall hung white framed piece made a big difference in this update. The white ceramic vase with greens was a great touch. A modern table lamp in a more appropriate height completed the look. Notice that even the photos got new frames!
