The Democrat & Chronicle’s July 26, 2014 Real Estate section ran a story titled No offers? Time for a Reboot that discussed what to do if your house has been sitting on the market for several months.
Here are a few of Leona’s suggestions of how to refresh your home after its been on the market for a while:
- Have new seasonal photos taken for MLS and marketing materials. Outdoor space adds to the value of a home so be sure to get photos of the furnished and accessorized deck, porch or patio. Flower gardens add to the curb appeal.
- If you elected not to paint or replace worn carpeting when your home first went on the market, give careful reconsideration to those items. Buyers are more attracted to move-in ready homes.
- Change the use of a room. For example, turn the formal living room into a home office.
- Invest in a home staging consultation. A professional home stager can recommend new furniture arrangements that can make rooms look larger and enhance focal points.
