I love seasonal decorating and I love to entertain! Here’s a look inside my own home which I hope gives you a few ideas and inspiration. I have also included some photos of food, beverages, and friends to remind you that it is the season to “eat, drink and be merry”.
Similar to starting with an inspiration piece (which I recommend when decorating a room), holiday and party decor comes together better when you start with a theme. I chose birch, cardinals, and “Eat Drink and Be Merry” as the recurring part of the decor. Taking my own advice not to overdo any particular element and to stick with colors that complement your walls and furnishings, some rooms were themed and others were decorated with a festive copper color that blends with my home decor.
(Photo Above) The antique buffet, painted in Benjamin Moore “chopped dill”, by Sabrina of Paint It Forward was the perfect serving piece. The Eat Drink and Merry canvas along with food markers and labels for take home bags were taken from the invitation that repeated the same graphic. The birch wreath and tall floral arrangement with the cardinal continued the theme.
(Photo Above) For a simple natural look, I wrapped the base of the tree branch in burlap and left the dried blossoms in place. It balanced out the room nicely and added some textual interest.
(Photo Above) The magnolia wreath I purchased two years ago at the Public Market is still holding up nicely above my fireplace.
(Photo Above Left) The larger portion of the tree branch that even the cathedral ceilings couldn’t accommodate was planted in the front of the house and decorated with white lights and cardinal ornaments.
(Photo Above) Guests brought homemade desserts that were taken home in the Eat Drink and Be Merry bags at the end of the night.
